Spotlight Teacher - Kathey McNeely
November 19, 2008
3rd Grade Teacher at Red Rock Elementary, Grand County School District
In her own words
I was born in Moab, Utah and was lucky enough to live in this beautiful area all my life, except when I went to college. I attended Utah State University where I majored in Elementary Ed. Part of the time, I attended extension classes from U.S.U in Moab when they actually sent professors down each week. I worked during the day at HMK Elementary School as a T.A. in the Title I project, and attended college classes at night. Then during the summer, I would return to USU to attend classes I couldn't get in Moab.
During the last few years, I have focused professional development on Computer classes, Language Arts, and Math. I have taught for 35 years - 6th, 5th, 4th, and presently 3rd grade. I like to integrate outdoor activities into the curriculum. This is my 36th year, and I still love kids and love to teach. Maybe someday I will retire. In my spare time, I love to read, ride my bike or 4-wheeler, hike, swim, and go skydiving.
Good job, Kathey.
